The climb to the top of the Poggio di Montieri is difficult, but the effort is rewarded with an almost 2 km long downhill. The first part of the Downhill is a bit more technical, but in the lower part it will be rather flowy.” Not recommended for beginners!
The Downhill leads along the river Cecina to the slopes of the medieval village of Travale. Here one can have a coffeebreak. The ascent back to Montieri is possible via single trails or via forest paths and on asphalted roads with little traffic.
